This year's Dragon Boat Festival and Children's Day sparked a tourism surge in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, with visits up 13.06 percent and revenue up 15.10 percent. Huaxi district led the city with over 631,000 visits and 388 million yuan ($53.9 million) in revenue.
Throughout the holiday, Huaxi hosted more than 100 cultural and family-friendly events blending tradition and creativity.
Highlights included dual-themed celebrations at Qingyan Ancient Town, hands-on farming experiences at Shili Hetan Scenic Area, Nuo opera performances and traditional crafts at Yelang Valley, and a festive music and water splashing event.
Other popular destinations – such as Tianhetan and the Raorao Camping Base – offered immersive cultural experiences that drew large crowds and showcased the charm of local culture.
Huaxi also strengthened its visitor services, ensuring smooth traffic flow, safety, and a comfortable experience for all. Together, these efforts created a festive, vibrant atmosphere that left both residents and tourists with lasting holiday memories.
