Folk event highlights ethnic culture in Huaxi

A folk cultural event drew many residents and visitors to Qingyan Academy in Huaxi district to celebrate Sanyuesan, the third day of the third lunar month, which fell on March 31.

The event started with a captivating welcome ceremony. Members of ethnic minority groups sounded long horns, while young women, carrying sweet rice wine and singing melodious mountain songs, greeted guests from near and far with a traditional "blocking-the-door" wine ritual.

The celebration featured a vibrant lineup of performances: women in ethnic attire played powerful drumbeats, and lusheng (an ethnic instrument) performances and traditional dances filled the air with energy and excitement.

Performers in colorful ethnic costumes showcased the unique charm of their culture through graceful movements and enchanting melodies.

A highlight of the event was the long-table banquet. Rows of tables were laid out with traditional delicacies where participants sat side by side, enjoying the delicious food, exchanging stories, singing mountain songs, and sipping sweet rice wine.
