Shizi Street, Huaxi district's core commercial area, carries historical memories unique to the local community. However, due to the aging infrastructure and a slow pace of business renewal, its development has faced challenges. Since 2021, the district has accelerated its urban renovation, revitalizing Shizi Street.
Following a renovation approach of integrating culture, commerce, and tourism, the district combines Shizi Street's historical culture, local consumer habits, and the enhancement of business formats to transform the street into a vibrant and livable area.
Efforts have included unified planning for 30 backstreets and alleys, 12 community road surfaces, building facades along the streets and alleys, and shopfronts. This has promoted the harmonious integration of the Shizi Street area with scenic spots like Huaxi Park and Shilihetan Wetland Park. Incorporating Huaxi's unique Miao culture and intangible cultural heritage has enhanced and transformed nine themed alleys and 765 commercial properties.
The district has also developed themed commercial streets along Jiangjun Road, Hebin Road, and Shiziyin Alley, diversifying nighttime consumer scenes with dining, snacks, fast food, and tea houses. This transformation aims to make Shizi Street a "midnight canteen" and nightlife hub for citizens and young people.
Shizi Street actively attracts cultural brands and business formats that align with young consumers' preferences, organizes themed monthly events, and focuses on creating a vibrant cultural and commercial atmosphere.
