Yelang Valley is located at the foot of Doupeng Mountain. It is a gorge through which the Siya River, a tributary of the Pearl River system, flows. It is 18 kilometers from downtown Guiyang and next to Guizhou University City.

Ancient Yelang Country, which appeared more than 2,000 years ago during the Qin (221-206 BC)and Western Han (206BC-AD 24) dynasties, was renowned alongside other countries like Loulan and Julan and flourished for a time.

Yelang Valley was founded by Song Peilun, a well-known Guizhou artist living in the United States, in 1996. It boasts Guizhou's karst landform, local culture, and indigenous ethnic minority culture, and integrates cultural and ecological gardens with human cultures such as Tunpu, Nuo, and stone architecture, as well as natural landscapes such as mountains, water, forests, and caves.

It would not have been possible without Song's unique ideas and creativity and the efforts of local villagers, and was built using local materials. As of 2023, it has been evolving for 26 years. 84-year-old Song Peilun continues to create and build the valley to this day.

Yelang Valley echoes Song's imagination of ancient Yelang, making it a charming and mysterious valley.
