Machang village of Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently listed as a key village for rural tourism in the province, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guizhou Province and the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

In recent years, Machang village has been vigorously developing its rural tourism by tapping into local resources and potential. Due to the two rivers in the village, water-based activities have become one of the tourism highlights in Machang village.

The rise of local agritainment has not only provided a great place for citizens to relax, but also greatly increased the income of villagers.

The village is also actively developing other industries. In addition to its scallion industry, which has a cultivation area of over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares), the village is home to over 500 mu of tea plants.

Local tea companies have not only integrated tea culture with rural tourism, but they have also collaborated with local inheritance bases for pottery crafts to incorporate pottery into tea packaging, which promotes the development of the local pottery culture as well.

"Being selected as a key village for rural tourism in the province is a great opportunity for the village. We will continue to tap into our potential, make good use of various resources, and increase the income of villagers through rural tourism. At the same time, we will continue to improve the appearance of the village and attract more tourists to come for leisure and sightseeing," said Chen Changhong, deputy director of the Machang village committee.
