The authorities of Qingyan town – in Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – have plans to develop a special food system together with two companies.

That's under a partnership agreement signed with Guizhou Qingyan Food Co and Guiyang Huaxi Qingmiao Tourism Service Co on Aug 1.

Boasting a recorded history of more than 600 years and a distinctive and appealing regional ethnic culture, Qingyan is rated by many as being one of most charming towns in China and is one of the top choices for tourists heading to Guiyang.

Liu Youyi, head of the town, said that Qingyan would build a food inspection and testing institution to check the specialty foods being produced and processed in local special food industrial park.

It would check the food in the local scenic areas, draft a food safety standards system corresponding to national standards and unify a local special food trademark marketing system.

Each special food produced in the town will be traceable – from raw materials, to production and processing, to distribution.

The agreement with the companies is expected to rectify the town's current shortfalls in production, sales and the distribution system for its special food, food-related standards and product traceability system, as well as food regulations.
