Huaxi district took the lead in launching the appointment door-to-door service for bulky domestic waste collection and transportation on April 7 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Bulk domestic waste generally refers to waste that is large in size and needs to be disassembled and reprocessed, such as mattresses, sofas, and wardrobes. For a long time, large pieces of domestic waste in homes were difficult to move and had no place to go.

To improve the recycling and treatment of large pieces of waste, the Huaxi comprehensive administration and law enforcement bureau and Guiyang Jingxi Eco-city Comprehensive Management Service Co began offering services in the district's main urban area.

Residents make appointments by phone or via the public WeChat account of "Huaxi Urban Management" and pay a fee, after which workers will come to the door to collect large domestic waste.

"I made an appointment yesterday and my waste was picked up today," said a resident surnamed Weng, who lives in an old alley with the main access road less than five meters wide.

"Randomly throwing away or piling up large waste items can easily block the road and damage the environment. But thanks to the new service, I no longer need to worry about the disposal of large furniture," he added.

The new service has provided convenience for local residents and brought residents closer to sanitation departments in the district.
