Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has become one of the first choices for enterprises to invest and start up new businesses in recent years.

The district, which once won the title of being one of China's top 100 districts in terms of investment potential, has been very active of late.

It has been building a competitive modern industrial system consisting of industries in the fields of biomedical health, electronics information manufacturing, mid-to-high-end consumer goods manufacturing and mid-to-high-end equipment manufacturing – based on local industrial parks.

One of the beneficiaries of all the growth and local industrial development contributor has been the Guiyang (Mengguan) International Automobile Trade Market.

"We have received strong support from the Huaxi district's government over the past few years, with local government departments helping to optimize the business environment of the auto trade market," said Yu Bin, president of Mengguan Chamber of Commerce for Economic and Trade Promotion in Guiyang.

Since its establishment in 2012, the Guiyang (Mengguan) International Automobile Trade Market has developed into Guizhou's largest auto trade market – offering vehicle sales, after-sales services, auto parts and auto repairs and second-hand car transactions.

From January to September, it sold 67,973 vehicles with sales of 10.01 billion yuan ($1.57 billion), up 11 percent year-on-year.

More than 140 vehicle dealers, 420 second-hand vehicle dealers, 1,500 operators of auto parts centers and 75 auto stores of 50 vehicle brands from home and abroad have so far settled into the auto trade market, creating jobs for nearly 7,000 people, including 2,800 locals in Huaxi.

According to Yu, the auto trade market has entered a period of low economic growth and has been in urgent need of transformation and upgrading since last year due to the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together with the Huaxi district's government, Mengguan Chamber of Commerce for Economic and Trade Promotion has been exploring applying the combination of vehicles and tourism – as well as the culture and sports sectors – to promote the industrial upgrading of the auto trade market, Yu added.

Shen Yang, Party secretary of Huaxi's commerce and investment promotion bureau, said that the local authority carried out over 20 measures to improve the infrastructure and industrial support facilities of the auto trade market and had as a result advanced the quality upgrading project of the market.

This year, plans are for Huaxi to continue to build an open economy by carrying out investment promotions in areas such as electronics information manufacturing and introducing more headquarters economy enterprises.
