Guiyang's Huaxi district to spur industrial breakthroughs

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Huaxi district of Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- will move to bolster its advanced industrial foundations and modernize its production and supply chain, to promote industrial breakthroughs.

The goal is that by 2025, the district will have quadrupled its annual industrial output value compared with 2020, to reach 30 billion yuan ($4.67 billion) and that industrial added value will account for more than 30 percent of the district's annual GDP.

Over the five years, two to three backbone enterprises are expected to be established in leading industrial clusters -- such as biomedicine, electronic information manufacturing and mid-to-high-end consumer product manufacturing.

Availing itself of the university resources of Huaxi University Town, the plan is to build an integrated industrial innovation system for government, industry, university, research and applications.

During the period, Huaxi will leverage Guizhou's big data industry and move to attract top manufacturers such as Huawei and Inspur, to construct an advanced industrial supply chain including electronic materials and electronic components.

The district will also promote the integrated development of new-type industrialization and urbanization, agricultural modernization and tourism industrialization. It will move to accelerate the construction of a number of key projects -- such as specialty food industrial parks -- to effectively advance the integrated development of its primary, secondary and tertiary industries. 

In addition, Huaxi will establish an investment center for key industries -- introducing more than six major industrial projects and organizing more than four special industry investment promotion activities every year.
