The foundation ceremony for a branch of the China Advanced Stroke Center -- which will operate under the auspices of Guizhou Provincial Staff Hospital and Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital -- was held at Guizhou Provincial Staff Hospital on April 2.
The Guizhou Provincial Staff Hospital is situated in Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province. The hospital established a medical alliance with Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital on Jan 4.

Stroke is caused by sudden rupture and bleeding of blood vessels in the brain, or cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, caused by clogged blood vessels. It can lead to paralysis of the limbs, speech disorders, dysphagia and depression.
A senior executive of Guizhou Provincial Staff Hospital said it would further integrate its high-quality medical resources, optimize health services and improve treatment capabilities to provide better medical treatments for stroke patients in Huaxi and the surrounding areas.
After the unveiling ceremony, experts from Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital gave an in-depth lecture on the treatment of stroke.
