Huaxi villages identified among those key for rural tourism

Two villages in Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, were recently included on a list of key villages for rural tourism in China.

They are Longjing village in Qingyan town and Raorao village in Gaopo Miao ethnic township.

Longjing village is a traditional village of the Bouyei ethnic group of Guizhou, with a history spanning 500 years. The Bouyei population in the village accounts for 98 percent of the total population.

It has tourist attractions such as a cultural auditorium, the ruins of Gutunbao in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Bouyei Street. The rosa roxbunghii wine and rose rice wine are also local specialty wines not to be missed.

In Longjing village, in addition to experiencing the local ethnic culture and customs, tourists can also experience the hands-on fun of trying out batik textile decorations.

Raorao village is located in highlands, at an average elevation of 1,500 meters. The location is dominated by karst landforms. It has a subtropical monsoon climate with abundant rainwater. The forest coverage rate of the village area is 70 percent.

It is the only Bouyei village in the Gaopo Miao ethnic township. It in recent years, has developed its tourist facilities to attract visitors and increase the income of locals. There are a number of farmhouses in the village that provide tourists with food and accommodation.

In addition, there is also a camping base in Raorao village, which has also brought more opportunities for the village's development.
