A group of French painters visited Huaxi district in Guiyang, in Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Oct 25, after attending an art seminar between Chinese and French painters, held in the city's Confucius Academy.
During the trip, the French artists were surprised by the well-designed ancient buildings in Qingyan Ancient Town. Built of quartzite, these buildings were completed during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).
The visitors were also charmed by the unique local customs and crafts, prompting them to enter a flower cake shop, bakery and tea house to learn about traditional techniques.
In Banqiao art village, an art industrial park transformed from old factories, Shi Wenhui, chairman of the Huaxi federation of literary and art circles, accompanied the French delegation led by Eva Klotgen in visiting a calligraphy and painting exhibition.
Covering about 4.7 hectares, the park hosts several art forms, including paintings, calligraphy, statues and art restaurants, which deeply impressed the art delegation.
During the trip, the French visitors also took photographs with Guiyang artists, including Long Yuanquan, Shen Fuxin and Fang Kun.
