Founded in July 1939, Guiyang Huaxi District People's Hospital has grown to be a first-grade medium-size general hospital integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention, health care, rehabilitation, and first aid, thanks to its nearly 80 years of effort and development. It undertakes designated tasks for the provincial and municipal medical insurance, new rural cooperative medical care in Huaxi District, urban residents' medical insurance, and other basic medical services. 

Covering an area of about 18,000 square meters with a business area of 31,000 square meters, the hospital has 550 sickbeds with 510 kept available. There are 10 medical technology departments and 25 clinical departments including internal, surgery, gynecological, obstetric and infantile departments. Among them, cardiovascular medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, urology, obstetrics, critical care medicine, emergency departments are listed as district-level key subjects of the Guizhou Health and Family Planning Commission.

Equipped with a Siemens 1.5T MRI, Philips 64-slice CT scanner, various types of laparoscopic surgery equipment, and other large medical instruments, the hospital has 718 on-the-job employees (including 215 staffed employees and 503 external employees), 647 health technicians, 50 technicians with senior titles (including 8 senior technicians and 42 associate senior technicians), and 102 intermediate technicians. In recent years, teaching and scientific research work has seen sound progress, winning the hospital over 10 provincial, municipal and bureau-level scientific research achievements awards, developing 20 new technology and new projects, and publishing over 100 important academic papers (including one SCI paper).
